RSS

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a great tool which is used to access latest news or posts from particular websites. The three methods of adding RSS feed I found were directly putting a specific websites URL into the "subscription" bar, using the directory to find feeds or searching on websites that have RSS. It's quite easy and convenient if you subscribe to numerous amounts of websites, but me personally, I only check a limited amount of websites. So therefore, I don't think I would really use it. Google is ultimately the strongest search engine on the internet, and for those who spend hours of time online I think RSS is perfect. If I want to find out a score of a football game I'd rather go right to NFL or ESPN website itself, so I can get the play by play of the game. Personally, I enjoy searching on particular websites. That's why they're there , to be explored. Google reader may be more convenient than a desktop software because it's web-based. Saying that though, a desk top program would be just as easy to access. The idea of already being on the internet with google reader works for me as if I were to choose, I'd go with the online reader. Also accessing google reader from my mobile device which is quite important is possible. Not all desktop software is compatible with mobile phones. I'm content with searching the world wide web, and currently wouldn't have a reason to use RSS. That doesn't mean its not effective for those who subscribe to various amounts of websites for the latest news. Give it a shot, maybe it's for you, but for my lifestyle today, I wouldn't use it.
